Guard Corey Hadnot II Signs with Men’s Basketball

Award-winning star joins Cougars following three seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne
HOUSTON – Guard Corey Hadnot II has signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Houston Men's Basketball program and will compete for the Cougars during the 2026-27 season, Head Coach Kelvin Sampson announced Friday.Thomas, who hails from Houston and competed as a prep star at Cypress Creek High School, will compete as a senior for Houston with one season of eligibility.
"In college basketball, you have to have a few guys who, when everything breaks down, they can go get a basket. You don't have to draw something up for them. You have to have a bucket-getter. Corey is one of those guys who has no fear,' Sampson said. "He is a good shooter, who can still improve. Corey has really good skills with the ball in his hands. I am excited about getting Corey indoctrinate into our program and make him a Cougar."
Hadnot played in all 100 games during his first three seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne with 32 starts a year ago.
In his first three seasons at Purdue Fort Wayne, Hadnot increased his scoring average each season and led the Mastodons with 20.4 points per game as a junior in 2025-26.
In 2025-26, the Atlanta native led the Horizon League with his scoring average and posted 654 points, the third highest single-season total in school history.
He recorded 18 games with 20+ points, including a career-high 32 points against Bowling Green in early January. For his impressive performance, he was named to the All-Horizon League First Team and earned a place on the NABC All-Great Lakes District Second Team.
In addition, he was a three-time Horizon League Player of the Week.
Hadnot was a member of the league's All-Freshman Team following the 2023-24 season and was a five-time Freshman of the Week selection while play all 36 games during his inaugural collegiate season.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Hadnot earned All-Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Region 3 honors after averaging 20.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a junior at Cypress Creek High.
