Weigman Advances to Golden Arm Top 15

HOUSTON – A preseason Golden Arm selection, Houston Football quarterback Conner Weigman advanced to the Top 15 list midway through the season, the Golden Arm Foundation announced on Thursday.

Weigman, is one of 15 quarterbacks to advance to the next round of the award consideration and is one of five Big 12 signal callers to advance.

The Cypress, Texas native is one of 12 quarterbacks nationally and is the only Big 12 quarterback with 11+ passing touchdowns and one or fewer interceptions. Weigman is also one of three QBs in FBS with 10+ passing touchdowns and 5+ rushing touchdowns.

Weigman is coming off back-to-back career games statistically; he tallied six total touchdowns at Georgia Southern before rushing for a career-high three touchdowns in the Cougars comeback win over UCF.

Houston, led by Weigman, has scored on 54% of its drives, the fourth highest rate nationally and the highest in the Big 12.

The Cougars' quarterback has led Houston to a top 25 ranking for the sixth straight week this season with Houston ranked #22 entering its Big 12 matchup at Kansas State on Saturday.

The Golden Arm Award recognizes quarterbacks who demonstrate excellence both on and off the field. The award is presented by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation alongside presenting partner A. O. Smith Corporation. The Foundation's mission is to promote the game of football while cultivating strong character, citizenship and academic commitment among young athletes.

The 15 quarterbacks advancing from the original 27-player Watch List represent programs from across the country and have continued to distinguish themselves through their performance, leadership and contributions to their teams during the 2026 season. The original Watch List was announced Aug. 19 and was selected under the Golden Arm Award's refined eligibility criteria for the 2026 season.
