Four Cougars selected for College Sport Communicators academic honor
HOUSTON – Four members of the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team earned a spot on the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday.Â
Â
Fifth-year Hedda Grelz earned her third consecutive selection to the list while sophomores Michelle McLeod, Evelyn Entrekin and Sydney Nethercutt all received their first honors. This is Houston's third consecutive season with four honorees on the team. Houston has now had 14 all-time selections.Â
Â
Grelz, who graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in May 2024, is currently working toward a master's degree in mechanical engineering. She qualified for NCAA Zone Diving Championships for the fifth consecutive season this year and earned All-Big 12 Conference Second Team honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter after finishing eighth in both events at the Big 12 Conference Championships in February.Â
Â
McLeod received her first honors from CSC after earning CSCAA Second Team All-America accolades following a 14th place finish in platform diving at the NCAA Championships in March. The Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada, native is a three-time All-Big 12 honoree, including two honors this season in the platform (First Team) and 3-meter (Second Team).Â
Â
Entrekin is a two-time All-Big 12 selection this season in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. Narrowly missing out on a qualification for the NCAA Championships, she moved up to third on Houston's 100 breast top 10 list, fifth on the program's 200 IM list and eighth on the Cougars' 200-yard breaststroke list this season.
Â
Nethercutt had a breakout season for the Cougars this year. A two-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree for the 2024-25 season, she finished third in the 200-yard butterfly at Big 12 Championships and fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle.Â
