Cougars Conclude Action in 100-Meter Semifinal at Paris Olympic Games

PARIS – University of Houston sprinters Louie Hinchliffe and Shaun Maswanganyi concluded action in the men's 100-meter semifinal in 11^th and 15^th place, respectively at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games inside Stade de France on Sunday.

After an impressive Round 1 performance on Saturday, Hinchliffe and Maswanganyi entered a stacked semifinal heat. Hinchliffe ran another sub-10 time of 9.97 to place third in the heat while Maswanganyi ran a season best time of 10.02 for fifth in the heat. Hinchliffe missed out on the 100m final by three spots in 11^th place overall and Maswanganyi in 15^th place.

The Olympic action does not end there for the two sprinters, as Maswanganyi will compete in the 200-meter and the 4x100-meter relay pool for South Africa. Hinchliffe is also in the 4x100-meter relay pool for Great Britain.

In the women's 200-meter Round 1, Cecilia Tamayo-Garza finished seventh in her heat at 23.65. She will compete on Monday in the repechage round for a spot in the semifinal.
