
Women’s Golf in Fourth after First Day at San Diego State Classic

Freshman Moa Svedenskiold, super senior Annie Kim among Top-10 leaders entering Tuesday’s Final Round
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Freshman Moa Svedenskiold and super senior Annie Kim finished among the Top-10 leaders following the First Round of the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club on Monday evening.
Svedenskiold posted a score of 148 to tie for eighth while Kim was tied for 10th at 149. Both student-athletes enjoyed rounds of even-par 72 in the afternoon session on the 6,329-yard, par-72 layout.
As a team, the #29 Cougars finished the first day with a two-round total of 603 to stand in fourth. No. 30 Iowa State held the first-day lead at 592 with No. 39 Georgia in second at 598. No. 50 Denver stood in third at 602 with UNLV (611) completing the Top Five leaders.
Making her Houston debut, senior Becca Earl was tied for 18th at 152. The super senior joined the Cougars in summer 2022 after transferring from Wofford.
Freshman Natalie Saint Germain was tied for 24th at 154 while fellow freshman Alexa Saldana was tied for 36th at 158.
Georgia's Jo Hua Hung stood atop the individual leaderboard at 2-under 142 and was the only student-athlete to break par in both of Monday's rounds. Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (Iowa State), Anna Zanusso (Denver), Amanda Minni (Oregon State) and Caterina Don (Georgia) were tied for second at 146.
The tournament concludes with the Final Round teeing off at 10 a.m. (CST).
