HOUSTON -- The Houston Swim & Dive team posted 15 top finishes in its second meeting with North Texas this season, Saturday at the CRWC Natatorium. The Cougars defeated North Texas 228-69.
Houston got off on the right foot, opening the meet with first-place finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay. Laura Laderoute, Angeliki Mavrantza, Rebecca Cox, and Zarena Brown teamed up to pick up 11 points for Houston with a time of 3:48.09.
Conor Glen took first-place in the 1000-yard Freestyle for the second time this season after posting a time of 10:26.15. Glenn was trailed by Hannah Herbst who closed out the race with a second-place finish.
Samantha Medlin took home top honors in two events, starting off with top honors in the 200-yard Freestyle for the first time this season, posting a time of 1:50.78. Zarena Brown also turned in a podium finish, closing out the event in third-place. Medlin notched her second win of the day in the 500-yard Freestyle, posting a time of 4:59.68.
Laderoute and Mavrantza tacked on three more top finishes for Houston. Laderoute won the 100-yard Backstroke (56.67) and Mavrantza won the 100-yard (2:18.24) and the 200-yard Breaststroke (1:04.39).
Freshman filled out the top four spots in the 200-yard Butterfly, led by Rebecca Brandt with a time of 2:06.00. Morgan Rosas finished in second, Victoria Tillman finished in third, and Cox filled in the fourth spot. Houston racked up 16 points.
Cait Horner won the 50-yard Freestyle (24.07) for the second day in a row and was followed by Ksenia Yuskova who turned in a third-place finish.
Eleanna Koutsouveli picked up two wins for Houston, finishing first in the 200 IM (2:07.09), and the 100-yard Backstroke (2:01.81). . Yuskova, Montana Lloyd, and Jenny Penneck rounded out the top four spots in the 100 back.
Victoria Tillman took home first place in the 100-yard Butterfly (56.92) and Brown added another win to the Houston win total after finishing first in the 100-yard Freestyle. Brown finished first with a time of 52.10.
Houston swept the diving events, taking all finishing first, second, and third in each event. Micaela Bouter finished first, Lauren Burrell in second and Katelyn Abernathy in third-place.
"We battled well today, coming back after a great meet last night" said Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka. "I saw some good things, coming from last night to this morning and I saw a few areas that we can do better. This is the challenge that we'll face, to have a great evening session and turn around turn around and have a great morning session. We're learning how to do that. Overall we saw some pretty great performances today and I'm proud of our effort this weekend."
UP NEXT
Houston will head to the Colorado for a Nov. 3 meeting with Colorado State and Nov. 4 matchup with Northern Colorado.
