Bouter Grabs American Diver of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Houston sophomore Micaela Bouter was named American Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, for her performances against No. 21 SMU and North Texas.
This is both Bouter's and the swimming and diving program's second weekly honor of the season.
The Johannesburg, South Africa, native earned the honor after her dominating performance on the boards, winning three out of four events and nabbing a second place finish. Friday night against No. 21 SMU, Bouter won the 3-meter dive, with her highest score coming from her sixth dive, the back 2 1/2 somersault tuck, which earned a 65.10. She finished the meet with a total of 351.90. She also placed second in the 1-meter dive behind teammate Danielle Shedd, with 277.35.
The following day against North Texas, the three-time American Diver of the Week swept the boards, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter. In the 1-meter, Bouter's best score came in her fifth dive, the forward 1 ½ somersault pike, earning at score of 55.80. She finished the event with a score of 308.85. In the 3-meter dive, the sophomore netted a score of 337.05, with her best dive coming from her fifth dive, the reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck, a 60.90.
UP NEXT
Bouter and the Houston divers will travel to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Diving Invitational Nov. 19-21. In the three-day competition, the divers will compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dive.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the first time as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC from Feb. 17-20, 2016. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 17-19, 2016 in Atlanta.
