DALLAS (AP) - London Giles scored 16 points and made five 3-pointers to lead SMU to a 70-54 win against Houston on Wednesday night.
Robert Nyakundi added 15 points and Shawn Williams and Jalen Jones 11 each for the Mustangs (10-8, 2-2 Conference USA).
Joseph Young and Kirk Van Slyke scored 11 points each for the Cougars (9-9, 1-4).
Young's 3-pointer got Houston within 53-47 with 8:13 remaining, but SMU responded with a 10-0 run. Jalen Jones had four points and Williams hit a 3-pointer during the surge, and the Cougars got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
