HOUSTON - University of Houston senior diver Lacey Truelove was named the Conference USA Diver of the Week Thursday afternoon for her performance at the Texas Invitational.
Truelove won every time she entered the pool at the Texas Invitational, as she earned first place in the 3-meter on day one and first place in the platform competition on the final day.
For the second time in as many meets, Truelove took the top spot in the platform diving competition, this time with an NCAA "A" qualifying score of 291.10 against the elite divers competing at the University of Texas meet.
In the 3-meter competition, Truelove entered the finals in second after the afternoon's preliminary round, but elevated her performance for Thursday night's 3-meter finals. She posted a score of 345.35 to earn top honors in the event and an NCAA "A" qualifying mark. Truelove bypassed Miami (Fla.)'s Thea Vock and Texas' two-time All-American Shelby Cullinan who finished second and third, respectively.
This is Truelove's third career Diver of the Week honor and second this season.
Truelove and the Cougars are preparing for their upcoming Christmas Training Trip Competition in Honolulu, Hawaii on Jan. 5.
