Truelove Claims Title on Day One of the Texas Invitational

HOUSTON - The University of Houston diving team kicked off the Texas Invitational hosted by the University of Texas with a victory Thursday evening.
After placing second in the afternoon's preliminary round, senior All-American Lacey Truelove elevated her performance for Thursday night's 3-meter finals. She posted a score of 345.35 to earn top honors in the event and an NCAA "A" qualifying mark.
Truelove bypassed Miami (Fla.)'s Thea Vock and Texas' two-time All-American Shelby Cullinan who finished second and third, respectively.
Sophomore Julia Lonnegren busted her previous personal best in the event, scoring an NCAA "A" mark of 303.10 to finish in fifth.
The Cougars will continue the three-day meet with the preliminary round in the 1-meter event Fri., at 12:30 p.m. in the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
