Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Day 2 of Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Houston swimming and diving team completed day two of the Texas Invitational on Friday in Austin, Texas.
After two days of competition, the Cougars currently sit in sixth place at the meet with 155.5 total points.
Leading the way for UH was junior diver Anastasia Pozdniakova, who took first place in the 1-meter diving competition a day after winning the 3-meter finals. Her total of 333.00 points handed the Russian native a comfortable victory.
Joining Pozdniakova were Courtney Forcucci and Lacey Truelove, who finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
In the swimming events, Andrea Pa'lmai led the Cougars in the 400-meter IM finals, posting a time of 4:21.82. Also racing was Beccy Hillis who turned in a time of 4:28.68.
Kimberley Eeson posted a mark of 1:50.89 in the 200-meter free finals.
In the 100-meter breast finals, Hillis posted a time of 1:05.52 to lead six Cougars. Also racing were Olga Bordatcheva (1:09.01), Natalie Newcomb (1:09.15), Doreen Polotzek (1:10.05), Andrea Kells (1:10.10) and Danica Lubbers (1:13.08).
Jessica Shamburger, Paige Bissett and Pa'lmai competed in the 100-meter back stroke finals, recording marks of 57.12, 58.49 and 58.66, respectively.
In the relays, Houston's "A" 200-meter medley relay team of Shamburger, Hillis, Schwendenwein and Eeson turned in a time of 1:47.30 to finish 11th.
In the 800-meter freestyle relay, UH's "A" team of Eeson, Schwendenwein, Pa'lmai and Bordatcheva recorded a clocking of 7:39.29 to finish 12th.
