HOUSTON - After taking nearly two weeks off, the University of Houston Swimming and Diving team returns to action at 5 p.m., Thursday as it plays host to Arkansas in a dual meet at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center Natatorium.
Admission to the meet is free to the public, which is invited to attend.
This will be the start of a busy weekend for the Cougars who will hit the road to face Texas A&M at 6 p.m., Friday in College Station, Texas.
The Cougars (1-2) come into the meet after taking a resounding 126-104 victory over North Texas on Oct. 22 at the CRWC Natatorium. At that meet, freshman diver Tania Cagnotto and swimmers Marit Bloemer, Andrea Pa'lmai, and Sasha Schwendenwein each earned multiple-event wins to lead the Cougars to their 11 straight victory over the Mean Green.
With her impressive performances, Cagnotto was named the Conference USA Diver of the Week for the second straight week.
Junior Szintia Szanto continues to lead the Cougar swimmers and has posted UH season-best times in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events.
Pa'lmai has been equally impressive during her first collegiate season and leads the Cougars in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.
A year ago, the Cougars claimed a 60-44 win over Arkansas in Honolulu, Hawai'i during their annual Christmas training.
