Men's Hoops Falls To Rice, 62-52

HOUSTON (AP) - Michael Harris had 22 points and was one of three Rice players in double figures as the Owls beat Houston 62-52 on Wednesday night.
Jason McKrieth scored 13 points and Brock Gillespie added 10 for Rice (4-1). The Owls shot 50 percent (14-of-21) and had 10 steals, eight by Rashid Smith.
Houston (0-2) trailed 27-24 at halftime, and Rice opened the second half with an 11-0 run.
A jumper by Brock Gillespie gave Rice it's biggest lead at 53-38 with 6:47.
The Cougars responded with a 12-2 run to make it 55-50 with 3:56 remaining. Rice then outscored Houston 7-2 to seal the win.
Andre Owens led the Cougars with 25 points. Lanny Smith scored 11 points and Anwar Ferguson grabbed 10 rebounds.
