Scrimmage Produces Positive Results

The Cougars went through simulated pregame as well as an hour-long scrimmage yesterday at John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. It was the first scrimmage of the year for the Cougars.
"I thought our defense played extremely well," said Dimel. "We had some good, physical tackling going on out there, and you want your defense to be ahead this time of the season. If the offense was moving the ball at will this early in camp, you would be concerned.
"We have been working them extremely hard, and for this scrimmage we did not alter our practice at all. We went through our normal two-a-day practices leading up to (the scrimmage), and we just treated the scrimmage like a morning practice."
The Cougars continue two-a-days today and tomorrow before scrimmaging again as a full squad on Saturday morning at "The Quinn."
Houston will scrimmage again on Wednesday, August 23, before settling in on seasonal preparation beginning with the Rice season opener on September 2.
